Minutes of the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, convened in the Bowery adjoining the north end of the Tabernacle, Great Salt Lake City, commencing Saturday, October 6, 1855, at 10 a.m., President Brigham Young presiding. ¶

Conference was called to order by President Brigham Young, who offered the opening prayer dedicating the conference and the people, thanking God for the gathering to the mountains and praying for the missionaries, the poor, and those still journeying on the plains. President Young then delivered his "Faith—Practical Religion—Chastisement—Necessity of Devils" discourse (filed separately), followed by President Heber C. Kimball's remarks on the Saints living their religion, titled "Iniquity—Saints Living Their Religion—Early Marriages" (published in Journal of Discourses 3:123-125; filed separately). ¶
The conference continued with further discourses, all filed separately: Jedediah M. Grant, "Men Rewarded According to Their Works" (October 6, JD 3:125-127); Parley P.
