Languages

The preached record is, overwhelmingly, an English archive. All 10,972 records in this edition were delivered or published in English, and every other language is read against that source corpus. Since 1971 the Church has published official translations of its conference addresses, and this edition collects them; before 1971, the record exists in no language but English.

The translation program follows the Church's own priorities: Spanish, Portuguese, and French first, alongside English, then the second cluster of languages the Church resources next — German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Tagalog and Cebuano, and the major Pacific languages. The tiers below are that ordering. Every count on this page is computed from the vault at each build; nothing here is aspirational.

A language opens on this site when its texts and their review state warrant it, not when its tier alone says so. The reading interface remains English while the first translated reading surfaces are prepared.

Beyond these tiers the vault holds collected material in 78 further languages (71,569 files), catalogued in the program's registry. None of it is presented here until it passes the same gate as everything above.

The frontier: before 1971

6,718 records — the early restoration (37), the Journal of Discourses era (1,113), and the printed Conference Reports (5,568) — predate 1971 and were never translated by the Church into any language. They exist in English alone. Translating them is the program's long work, and the primary languages go first. The modern era's remaining gaps already sit in draft for all four primary languages; the pre-1971 frontier follows once those drafts clear review.

What counts as available

Official Church translation — the Church's own published text, collected from its archive. It appears in the counts above as soon as it carries a real transcript.

Pulpit translation, in draft — prepared in the vault with per-language glossaries, scripture indexes, and parallel corpora. Counted as in preparation, and never presented as available until review promotes it to published.

No text — the Church's audio- or video-only pages with no transcript are excluded from every count rather than padded in.

This is why the numbers here can read lower than raw coverage claims: the page counts readable, gated text only. A draft is progress, and it is shown as progress — it is not an available translation, and this edition does not present it as one.
