LeGrand Richards · 1956 October General Conference · 1956-10-05
New ingestion: this address was previously entirely missing from the corpus. Reconstructed reading order from conferencereport1956sa's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py); transcribed the full body verbatim from leaves n22-n26 against that reconstruction, following directly after President Joseph Fielding Smith's address ([[1956-10-smith-isa-witness-to-the-mission-of-the]], ending 'The Lord bless you, I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.' on leaf n22) per President McKay's introduction naming Elder LeGrand Richards as the next speaker, and ending immediately before President McKay's introduction of Elder Oscar A. Kirkham ([[1956-10-kirkham-i-pray-for-the-blessings-of-the]], leaf n26). Stripped running heads ('GENERAL CONFERENCE' / 'Friday, October 5' / 'First Day' / page numbers) and the garbled OCR of the printed speaker banner ('ELDER LEGRAND RICHARDS / Of the Council of the Twelve Apostles', OCR'd across leaves n22-n23 as fragments like 'ELDER LEGR/' and '[D RICHARDS'); de-hyphenated line breaks and reflowed paragraphs. talk_order is set to 33 (next free integer) rather than a physically-ordered slot, matching this conference's existing numbering, which is not strictly reading-order (e.g. the preceding Smith address is talk_order 20 despite being physically adjacent to talks numbered 6-7). One OCR punctuation fix: printed 'lo, lol to the Jews' (D&C 21:12 quotation) rendered as 'lo, lo! to the Jews' (exclamation point misread as a letter).
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Ingested; not yet independently reviewed.
