Adam S. Bennion · 1955 October General Conference · 1955-10-02
OCR ingestion with auto-cleaning and paragraph reflowing, followed by a heavyweight page-by-page collation against the Internet Archive conferencereport1955sa scan (leaves n116-n120).
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Restored a substantial truncated ending (this file previously stopped mid-sentence partway through) and merged in a duplicate fragment of the same talk (1955-10-adam-which-impels-us-to-action-faith-is.md, deleted after merging) plus additional content never previously captured by either file, all recovered from the Internet Archive scan. Fixed a decorative drop-cap OCR artifact ('his' restored to 'This') in the opening word.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: verified source as the Church History Library-contributed Internet Archive scan conferencereport1955sa (126th Semi-Annual Conference, held Sep 30-Oct 2, 1955). This talk (Elder Adam S. Bennion, Sunday Afternoon Session, leaves n116-n120) had been split across two files by the original ingest -- this file broke off mid-sentence at 'it centers in the thought of the faith' and a second file, 1955-10-adam-which-impels-us-to-action-faith-is.md (whose speaker field had been left as the placeholder 'Adam' rather than resolved to Adam S. Bennion), picked up with 'which impels us to action' and itself broke off mid-sentence at 'I beg' -- with the remainder of the talk (roughly the last third, covering the faith of tomorrow, concrete testimonies, and the Cumorah pageant, through the closing 'Amen') never having been captured by either file. Rebuilt page reading order from the scan's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py), recovered the missing tail, merged the two existing files into this one, and deleted the duplicate. Corrected date_precision from month to exact and added session (Sunday Afternoon Session, matching this conference's weekday-named session convention) and talk_order; added a page-anchored source_url. Also confirmed leaf n125's 'ELDER MARK' fragment appearing later in this session is an OCR-garbled running head for Marion G. Romney's own talk, not a second, uningested Mark E. Petersen appearance.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
