Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the One Hundred Eleventh Semi-Annual Conference (October 4-6, 1940), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1940sa). Reading order was reconstructed from DjVu XML with the repository helper, then cleaned by script: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; obvious OCR errors corrected. Not yet proofread page-by-page against the scan images, so minor residual OCR errors may remain (status: draft, pending review). Title is supplied. CORRECTION (claude-sonnet-5): a prior pass had left the talk truncated at its end -- the body stopped mid-sentence at 'it seems to me that in this realm of His work, bringing,' omitting the rest of the talk (roughly 260 words: the completion of that sentence, two further paragraphs, and the closing testimony/Amen). Restored by collating against the independent IA djvu OCR witness for conferencereport1940sa, reconstructed in true reading order with scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py: the cut lands exactly at the leaf n92/n93 page break, and the restored text (from leaf n93) begins 'to pass man's eternal life...', completing the sentence with no gap or overlap, and ends at the talk's own 'Amen' -- confirmed against the following leaf n93 heading 'ELDER PRESTON NIBLEY' / 'Former President of the Northwestern States Mission', which begins a separate talk and is correctly excluded here. One dictionary-confirmed OCR fix in the restored text: printed/scanned 'hundrd' -> 'hundred'.

Heavyweight pass: verified source as the Internet Archive scan conferencereport1940sa (111th Semi-Annual Conference, held Fri Oct 4 - Sun Oct 6, 1940). Rebuilt page reading order from the scan's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) and cross-checked every talk boundary, date, and session against the report's own exhaustive back-of-book index (leaf n137-141), which lists every address with its own page range and sub-topic headings. As with the 1941 conferences, this conference's original ingest was already complete and accurate: all 31 vault files map to the real discourses listed in the index, including a cluster of brief mission-president testimonies (Jacobs, Tew, Nibley) of which the index names only Elder Joseph Jacobs by leaf reference but whose immediately adjacent testimonies by William T. Tew, Jr. and Preston Nibley were correctly also captured as separate files. Existing date/session/talk_order metadata was already correct and no speaker misattributions were found. Filled in one missing page-anchored source_url and removed a handful of residual running-head page-break artifacts (stray 'First/Second/Third Day' lines) from a few files' bodies. Confirmed no missing addresses this pass.
