The Influence of Missionary Work

John H. Taylor · 1938 April General Conference · 1938-04-06

Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the One Hundred and Eighth Annual Conference (April 1938), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1938a). Reading order was reconstructed from the DjVu word coordinates with scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py, segmented using matched line bounds, then cleaned: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; paragraphs reflowed. Not yet proofread line-by-line against the scan images (status: draft, pending review).

Witnesses

No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Proofread against the Internet Archive conferencereport1938a scan/OCR; confirmed body text, date/session metadata already correct.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: verified source as the Internet Archive scan conferencereport1938a (108th Annual Conference, held Sun Apr 3, Mon Apr 4, Wed Apr 6, 1938 -- Tuesday April 5 was not a conference day). Rebuilt page reading order from the scan's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) and cross-checked every talk boundary, date, and session against the report's own exhaustive back-of-book index (leaf n121-123), which lists every address with its own page range and sub-topic headings. This conference's original ingest was already complete and accurate: all 39 vault files map to the real discourses listed in the index, and existing date/session/talk_order metadata was already correct. Filled in page-anchored source_url values for three files that still had only the bare item link, and swept out running-head/page-break bleed artifacts (isolated all-caps speaker-name running heads) from about 30 files' bodies. Confirmed no missing addresses this pass.

Corrections

This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
