Joseph F. Merrill · 1937 April General Conference · 1937-04-04
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the One Hundred and Seventh Annual Conference (April 1937), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1937a). Reading order was reconstructed from the DjVu word coordinates with scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py, segmented using matched line bounds, then cleaned: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; paragraphs reflowed. Not yet proofread line-by-line against the scan images (status: draft, pending review).
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Proofread against the Internet Archive conferencereport1937a scan/OCR; confirmed body text; corrected date (was two days early).
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: verified source as the Internet Archive scan conferencereport1937a (107th Annual Conference, held Sun Apr 4 - Tue Apr 6, 1937). Rebuilt page reading order from the scan's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) and cross-checked every talk boundary and session against the report's own exhaustive back-of-book index (leaf n128-131), which lists every address with its own page range and sub-topic headings. This conference's original ingest was otherwise complete: all 35 vault files map to the real discourses listed in the index, and the session field was already correct. MAJOR FIX: this conference's dateline in the report itself reads 'Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, April 4, 5 and 6, 1937,' but every file's date field had been set two days early (First Day stamped as April 2 instead of April 4, Second Day as April 3 instead of April 5, Third Day as April 4 instead of April 6); corrected the date field by +2 days for all 35 files in this conference while leaving the already-correct session field untouched. Fixed a malformed file with no newline after the frontmatter closing delimiter (Melvin J. Ballard's address), which had prevented it from being locatable against the source scan. Filled in page-anchored source_url values for three files that still had only the bare item link, and swept out running-head/page-break bleed artifacts from about 30 files' bodies. Confirmed no missing addresses this pass.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
