Eugene J. Neff · 1927 April General Conference · 1927-04-03
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1927a). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Proofread against the scan/OCR witness (Internet Archive conferencereport1927a); moved the calling caption out of the body into calling metadata, supplied a real title, removed a mid-paragraph running-head bleed ('ELDER EUGENE J. NEFF') and a trailing choir notice that belongs with the next speaker's session-business lead-in.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: authoritative source URL verified against conferencereport1927a djvu OCR (IA file conferencereport981chur_djvu.txt); confirmed this is Eugene J. Neff's address in the First Overflow Meeting (references 'Like Brother Kimball' and Elder Kimball's presiding role), not the main Tabernacle meeting. Removed two mid-paragraph running-head artifacts ('ELDER EUGENE J. NEFF') left at page breaks. Retained the closing hymn text and poem exactly as printed (this is part of Neff's spoken conclusion, not bleed). Removed the trailing 'A male chorus from the choir sang, "Rock of my refuge."' line, which is session business belonging with the record between talks, not Neff's own discourse; it is preserved verbatim in the following talk's session-business lead where applicable. Set calling_at_time to 'Former Mission President' with calling_source recording the exact printed caption; set session to 'First Overflow Meeting' and date to 1927-04-03 (exact). source_url page anchor derived from the item's own page_numbers.json leaf map (printed page 48 = leaf n50).
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
