Joseph Fielding Smith · 1919 October General Conference · 1919-10-03
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1919sa). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: source_url is a bare IA item link (bare_ia_source_link). The printed page numbers visible in this talk's own body text (89, 90) fall between the neighboring anchored talks (Ivins remarks-23 at n81; Talmage remarks-25 at n94), but the exact archive.org leaf for this talk's start could not be pinned down with confidence, so it was left unanchored rather than guess wrong. Removed four repeated running-head fragments ('EELDR JOSEPH FIELDING SMITH.', one instance of 'ELDER JAMES E. TALMAGE.' misattributed mid-talk) bled between page breaks, and trailing session-business bleed after the closing 'Amen' (a musical solo). Fixed numerous OCR letter/punctuation errors and a duplicated sentence produced by a page-break repeat ('havefbeen' -> 'have been', 'titter' -> 'utter', 'tremible' -> 'tremble', 'Jruths' -> 'truths', 'comandments' -> 'commandments', a duplicated 'The word has gone forth...' sentence collapsed to one occurrence). No independent re-fetch of the scan image was performed beyond confirming the IA item exists; correction relied on internal proofread of the OCR against itself for artifacts.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
