Charles W. Nibley · 1918 October General Conference · 1918-10-04
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1918sa). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break/column-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Newly ingested talk, previously missing from the vault entirely: its byline had been dropped during original ingestion, leaving only the stray line '(Presiding Bishop of the Church.)' to survive as a false continuation wrongly spliced onto the end of the preceding file (1918-10-17-hyrum-g-smith-remarks.md), with no boundary marker. Removed from that file in commit 8db58a8198 without being preserved elsewhere. Transcribed fresh from the conferencereport1918sa scan (djvu OCR reading order via scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py, leaves 73-78, printed pages 73-78), not reconstructed from memory. Talk begins on p.73 immediately after Hyrum G. Smith's talk and the Iniz Robinson choir-solo note, with its own byline 'ELDER CHARLES W. NIBLEY.' and calling line, and ends cleanly on p.78 with 'Amen.' before an unrelated meeting-notices paragraph and President Joseph F. Smith's Liberty Bonds remarks (talk 18), neither of which are part of this discourse. talk_order 17.5 / id suffix 17b follow the vault's established convention for inserting a discovered talk between two already-numbered talks without renumbering the rest of the conference (compare 1918-10-15b-stephen-l-richards-remarks-15b.md, talk_order 15.5). A handful of obvious OCR character-level errors and line-break hyphenation joins were fixed against the OCR text directly (no page images fetched for this pass); the Job 32:8 KJV quotation ('the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding') was corrected from OCR 'sdveth' on scriptural-text confidence. Residual OCR typos flagged pending Final Review collation against the scan images.
Ingested; not yet independently reviewed.
