Charles W. Penrose · 1916 April General Conference · 1916-04-06
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1916a). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from conferencereport1916a's DjVu XML via scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py. This file, the former 1916-04-05-charles-w-penrose-remarks-5.md, and the former 1916-04-06-charles-iv-penrose-remarks-6.md are a single continuous First Day Afternoon Session address by Charles W. Penrose, wrongly split into three files at page turns; merged into one file at this slot (talk_order 4, the vacant slot left by correcting the phantom 'Arthur Winter' misattribution -- Winter offered this session's invocation, not this discourse) and deleted the two duplicates. Removed running-head artifacts mid-paragraph ('PRESIDENT CHARLES W. PENROSE.', 'PRESIDENT CHARLES IV. PENROSE.' -- an OCR misread of 'W.'), stray leaf-number fragments, and reflowed column-wrapped line breaks into paragraphs. Restored the real printed title from the synopsis block ('Universal redemption through obedience -- Evil of contentions -- Trinity of the Godhead...'). Fixed scattered OCR letter-errors throughout (Tt/It, Fpistle/Epistle, Presidencv/Presidency, arc/are, Aclam/Adam, Kxodus/Exodus, Fie/He, Sth/5th, and similar). Confirmed the talk is complete, ending 'Amen', with clean boundaries against the preceding session-record and the following talk. No missing/invented text.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
