Joseph Fielding Smith · 1914 October General Conference · 1914-10-05
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1914sa). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: verified against IA scan/OCR (conferencereport1914sa leaves 97-100). Talk was cut off mid-quotation ("Lord, if Thou hadst been here, my"); its continuation had been ingested as a separate mislabeled file, 1914-10-32-had-not-died-remarks-32.md (phantom speaker built from the cutoff clause itself), which is now merged back in and deleted. Restored the single missing bridging line ('brother had not died.') that fell exactly at the seam between the two files and was preserved in neither. Corrected calling to the standard apostle calling; restored the printed heading as the real title (title_supplied: false). Confirmed body complete through closing 'Amen.' 0 QC ERRORs.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
