President Wilson Commended for Appointing a Day of Prayer for Peace

Anthon H. Lund · 1914 October General Conference · 1914-10-04

Fidelity

○Fragmentary

Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1914sa). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed. The underlying IA scan is itself severely degraded in this section (running heads and even some body words are only partially legible in the source image, not just artifacts of a bad OCR pass); a handful of words have been corrected as high-confidence readings (see heavyweight_review_notes) but fidelity is downgraded to fragmentary because this could not be fully verified letter-for-letter against a clean image.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: split out of the mega-file 1914-10-02 (an unusable placeholder with a title built entirely from OCR noise), which had wrongly bundled Joseph F. Smith's continued remarks, Penrose's prayer, and this second Lund address (distinct from his other talk, 1914-10-08-lund-remarks-8.md, on a different subject later in the conference) into a single file. The underlying scan itself is badly degraded here (confirmed against conferencereport1914sa leaves 11-12: even the running head is only partially legible in the raw OCR text layer). Restored the printed heading as the real title (title_supplied: false) from the visible fragments of the printed synopsis. Fixed a handful of high-confidence OCR errors: 'Rider Charle. Kent' -> 'Elder Charles Kent'; 'iriupliititin' -> 'temptation'; 'tuny' -> 'may'; 'dtfrjng' -> 'during'; 'Ilia! j',' -> 'His'; 'i'b','ht eons' -> 'numerous' (in 'gathered his numerous posterity', matching the well-documented Adam-Ondi-Ahman narrative). Downgraded fidelity to fragmentary given the scan's own degraded condition in this section, rather than overclaim authoritative_print. Confirmed opening and closing intact. 0 QC ERRORs.
