Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: verified against IA scan/OCR (conferencereport1914sa leaves 2-9); confirmed opening address matches the printed heading and session. Also noted the scan records that a concurrent overflow meeting convened in the Assembly Hall from the very start of this session, under George F. Richards. MAJOR CORRECTION: this file had been cut off mid-sentence ('...In connection with the Presiding'), and the separate file 1914-10-02 -- an unusable placeholder with a title built entirely from OCR noise -- was actually a mega-file wrongly bundling the rest of this address together with two other speakers' entire talks (Penrose's prayer and a second Lund address). Restored the missing bridge ('Bishop and one of his counselors I had the privilege of visiting, in') and merged the rest of Smith's own remarks back into this file; the Penrose and Lund material has been split into their own new files (1914-10-02-penrose-prayer-for-peace.md and 1914-10-02b-lund-remarks.md). Removed trailing period from speaker; corrected calling_at_time. Confirmed the full address's closing 'Amen' (calling on Penrose to pray) intact. 0 QC ERRORs.
