Session notes: closing session opening, music and prayer

Conference record · 1911 October General Conference · 1911-10-08

Fidelity

○Fragmentary

Session housekeeping notes (hymn, benediction, and the opening of the Closing Session: choir and prayer) misfiled in the original ingest as an individual discourse attributed to "Tamihani Te Awe Awe." Reclassified as record_type: conference_record during this heavyweight pass; no individual sermon content was lost. Tamihani Te Awe Awe is recorded here only as pronouncing the benediction that closed the Outdoor Meeting -- he does not appear elsewhere in this conference as a discourse speaker.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Heavyweight pass: this was not a genuine discourse. The prior lightweight pass had preserved a badly interleaved OCR fragment under a phantom talk attributed to "Tamihani Te Awe Awe," who in fact only pronounced the benediction closing the Outdoor Meeting. De-interleaved the true two-column text from the DjVu word coordinates (the tail of Moses W. Taylor's talk in one column, running concurrently with this session's housekeeping in the other) and reclassified this file as record_type: conference_record. Taylor's own text has been restored to his talk (1911-10-41-moses-w-taylor-remarks-41.md); only genuine session housekeeping remains here.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: leaf n119 (image index 119) of the conferencereport1911sa DjVu XML is genuinely two full columns of running text, not an interleaved/linearized page as first appeared from the generic reading-order script's output -- I re-extracted the raw word coordinates directly (left column x0<550, right column x0>=550) and confirmed the left column is the tail of Taylor's talk (ending '...the people out in the world who') and the right column continues that same sentence ('have entertained them, have been blessed of the Lord...') before the hymn 'Do what is right', benediction by Elder Tamihani Te Awe Awe, and the 'CLOSING SESSION' dateline, choir anthem, and prayer by Patriarch Joseph E. Taylor. The prior ingest had merged fragments of both columns out of order and mislabeled the result as a discourse by Tamihani Te Awe Awe; there is no such discourse in the source. Restored Taylor's continuation to his own talk and kept only the genuine session-record material (hymn, benediction, Closing Session dateline, choir, prayer) here. Confirmed boundaries clean: this record ends immediately before Joseph F. Smith, Jr.'s talk (44) begins on leaf n120.
