John Henry Smith · 1911 October General Conference · 1911-10-06
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report published by the Deseret News and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1911sa). Running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: merged in the missing opening of this talk, which had been split off with the preceding session record (1911-10-05); restored the source's own title and calling; anchored source_url leaf; fixed OCR letter errors.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from the conferencereport1911sa DjVu XML word coordinates (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) and corrected the source_url leaf from n19 to the confirmed n17 (matching the talk's true opening). Merged in the talk's opening paragraph, which had been left attached to the tail of the session record (1911-10-conference-record-session-notes-05.md); this file previously began mid-word ('enties are all in the city' -- a fragment of 'sev-enties'). Restored the source's own title and set calling_at_time to Second Counselor in the First Presidency. Fixed a handful of OCR letter errors (saared -> sacred, recoginze -> recognize, cau?e -> cause, sucessful -> successful, fixe'1 -> fixed). Confirmed boundaries clean: begins with Smith's own remarks, ends at his own Amen plus a trailing musical note.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
