Francis M. Lyman · 1909 October General Conference · 1909-10-03
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Eightieth Semi-Annual Conference (October 1909), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1909sa). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: removed a duplicated/truncated trailing block and split the genuine remainder into a new file; OCR letter errors fixed.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from the conferencereport1909sa DjVu XML word coordinates (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py). Discovered a duplication defect: a brief remark by President Joseph F. Smith (responding to Lyman's home-made-silk anecdote) had been appended TWICE at the end of this file, with the second copy truncated mid-sentence -- confirmed against the source that it appears only once. Removed the duplicate/truncated copy and split the single genuine copy into its own file, 1909-10-smith-remark-home-made-silk.md (talk_order 4, shared with this file), since it carries its own distinct speaker header. Fixed roughly ten OCR letter errors in Lyman's own remarks (salvat'on -> salvation, ir. -> in, Lattelr-day -> Latter-day, hav'ng -> having, and several stray punctuation marks). Confirmed remaining boundaries clean: begins with Lyman's own remarks, ends at his own Amen.
