John L. Herrick · 1909 October General Conference · 1909-10-03
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Eightieth Semi-Annual Conference (October 1909), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1909sa). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: reordered a scrambled two-column-interleaving sentence; OCR letter errors fixed.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: proofread against the conferencereport1909sa DjVu XML reading-order reconstruction. Fixed several OCR letter errors (simoly -> simply, con-. tact -> contact, thiat -> that, fcr -> for, cur -> our, oathos -> pathos). Reordered one sentence whose words had been scrambled by a two-column-layout interleaving defect that survived the reading-order reconstruction ('There goes an ex;" he said convict: there goes it loud enough...' -> '"There goes an ex-convict," he said, loud enough...') -- all words are present in the scan, only their order was corrected, per the vault's boundary/reading-order-fix policy rather than reconstruction from memory. Editorial flag: the file's inline calling tag reads '(President of Northwestern States Mission)', matching the printed source exactly (verified against the DjVu re-check, including a duplicate occurrence earlier attributed to Elder Bennion), even though this file's title/frontmatter calling is 'President of the Western States Mission' -- left verbatim as printed since it appears to be the original volume's own duplication error, not an OCR misread, and flagging for verification rather than silently correcting. Confirmed boundaries clean: ends at Herrick's own Amen; a trailing musical-number notice was kept as genuine session record.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
