George F. Richards · 1909 April General Conference · 1909-04-05
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Ninth Annual Conference (April 1909), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1909a). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: anchored source_url leaf; OCR letter errors fixed.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from the conferencereport1909a DjVu XML word coordinates (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) to anchor source_url leaf. Fixed about eight OCR letter/spacing errors (vitrue -> virtue, Gra^e -> Grace, reauired -> required, bv -> by, knowine/titHnsr -> knowing/tithing, onetenth -> one-tenth, perparing -> preparing, salification -> sanctification, heln -> help, see ing -> seeing). Editorial flag: verified against a fresh DjVu re-check that the sentence beginning 'Some may ask, — If that law has been given...how is it that we Latter-day Saints...has been restored to the higher law. It was taken from high law of consecration?' is genuinely printed exactly as-is in the 1909 scan (word-for-word match, not a reading-order artifact); the sentence reads as internally awkward/garbled in the original print itself, and has been preserved verbatim per the no-reconstruction policy rather than smoothed over. Confirmed boundaries clean: begins with Richards's own remarks, ends at his own Amen.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
