J. Golden Kimball · 1909 April General Conference · 1909-04-04
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Ninth Annual Conference (April 1909), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1909a). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: split a separate George F. Richards address out of the end of this file (see heavyweight_review_notes); OCR letter errors fixed.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from the conferencereport1909a DjVu XML word coordinates (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py). Fixed roughly eight OCR letter/spacing errors (Latter day -> Latter-day, Joseph' Smith -> Joseph Smith, reveajed -> revealed, tie chaste -> be chaste, intolerent -> intolerant, Latte-day -> Latter-day, a stray asterisk, sight of _ God -> sight of God). Split out a separate address by George F. Richards ('God's Kingdom on earth to unite with the Heavenly Kingdom') that had been wrongly appended to the end of this file (running head 'EIDER GEORGE F. RICHARDS.', OCR misread of 'ELDER') into new file 1909-04-richards-gods-kingdom-on-earth.md -- talk_order 12 (shared with this file, since they occur back-to-back in the same session; a full renumbering of the rest of the day was judged out of scope for this pass). Editorial flag: one likely genuine defect in the original print/scan was preserved rather than reconstructed -- the sentence 'I think some of you are very much like You ought to know that, Latter-day Saints' appears to be missing a word or clause between 'like' and 'You', consistent across a fresh DjVu re-check, and was left verbatim per the no-reconstruction policy rather than guessed at. Confirmed remaining boundaries clean: begins with Kimball's own remarks, ends at his own Amen.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
