Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Heavyweight page-by-page collation against the Internet Archive scan/OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Eighth Annual Conference (April 1908), hosted at conferencereport1908a. Confirmed the boundary: this is Grant's second talk of the conference (talk_order 15), distinct from his earlier "Advantages of Wisdom" address. It begins after a false mid-page running-head ("ELDER HEBER J. GRANT.") that interrupts William H. Smart's preceding report near a page break; the real talk starts later at the actual heading, synopsis, and "It is always a pleasure..." opening. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.

Collation history

Proofread against the Internet Archive Conference Report scan/OCR witness; boundary, metadata, and OCR cleanup checked.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: authoritative IA Conference Report source verified (conferencereport1908a, leaf n56); page-by-page collation against the scan/OCR witness confirmed speaker, supplied title, exact date, session (corrected from "Second Day Morning Session" to "Sunday Morning Overflow Session" to match the actual session heading, shared with the immediately preceding William H. Smart talk), and talk order. Confirmed talk boundary against two false running-head interruptions (a mid-Smart-talk "ELDER HEBER J. GRANT." page header, and a mid-Grant-quotation "ELDER STEPHEN L. CHIPMAN." page header at the page-58/59 break) that are not real talk breaks; the true end of the talk is "...Amen." before the closing hymn and benediction of this session. Corrected OCR misreads verbatim against the witness ("tc"->to, "thei?"->their, "inasrquch"->inasmuch in the Alma 36:1 quotation, stray "]"->comma-free reading in the 1 Nephi 3:7 quotation matching canonical wording, and a stray mid-word space in "origin ally"->originally). Left other period print typos (e.g. "imbided," "orginally," "Y/oung," "commandmient," "mainfest," "idotic," "murmlur," "mian," the mid-sentence capitalized "Would," and the odd "according- to their, wills" in the abridged Alma 29:4 quotation) as printed per the restraint principle, since they read as genuine period typesetting artifacts rather than unambiguous scan-reading errors.
