Joseph F. Smith · 1907 April General Conference · 1907-04-06
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Seventh Annual Conference (April 1907), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1907a). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Heavyweight pass: restored a truncated session-record lead-in ('President Joseph F. Smith read...') and a dropped salutation line; anchored source_url to page; removed printed synopsis line; OCR letter errors fixed.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: reconstructed true reading order from the conferencereport1907a DjVu XML word coordinates (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py). Resolved the bare_ia_source_link WARN: anchored source_url to leaf 39, where this talk begins. Removed the printed synopsis line per the vault's synopsis-bleed convention. Restored two genuinely truncated fragments in the trailing session record (the auditing committee report), recovered verbatim from the DjVu XML: 'President Joseph F. Smith read' was dropped before 'the annual report of the Church auditing committee', and 'President Joseph F. Smith and' was dropped before 'Counselors. Dear Brethren' in the letter's salutation. Fixed OCR letter errors ('namelv'->'namely', 'properlv'->'properly', a stray apostrophe before 'necessary requirements', 'auditine'->'auditing', 'byBishop'->'by Bishop'). Kept the trailing session record (auditing committee report, its adoption, and benediction) attached to this file since it is the direct continuation of the same session Smith is presiding over, rather than splitting it into a separate conference_record file.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
