James G. Duffin · 1906 October General Conference · 1906-10-07

Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Heavyweight page-by-page collation against the Internet Archive scan/OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Seventh Semi-Annual Conference (conferencereport1906sa). This talk was re-transcribed fresh from the IA djvu OCR after being found mistakenly prepended, along with the session-opening hymn/prayer material, to the James Duckworth talk file; that misattributed content was removed from the Duckworth file separately. Talk boundary, exact session/date/order metadata, and source anchor checked against the report text.

No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.

Heavyweight pass: authoritative IA Conference Report source verified (conferencereport1906sa); page-by-page collation against the scan/OCR witness confirmed speaker, supplied title, exact date, session, and talk boundary. This talk previously existed only as misattributed content prepended to the Duckworth file; it has been re-transcribed here directly from the djvu OCR (not recovered from the prior file's git history), running from Duffin's actual opening line "I feel grateful..." through his "God bless you. Amen." immediately before Duckworth's own header and address begin partway down printed page 81. The opening hymn/prayer material that had also been prepended to the old file belongs to the Overflow Meeting's session business, not to this talk, and was excluded. Corrected numerous OCR misreads verbatim against the witness (darknes->darkness, tonsme->tongue, aopeared->appeared, aoout->about, mision->mission, "mission' work"->mission work, into-/that->into that, to-/school->to school, his-/tory->history, encour-/aged->encouraged, writ-/ing->writing (split across an erroneous premature "ELDER JAMES DUCKWORTH." running head on page 81), re-/stored and prom-/ises rejoined across page breaks, and stray OCR punctuation removed ("laid, their hands"->"laid their hands", "business ' affairs"->"business affairs", "two years and a. half"->"two years and a half"). Left "We have published in that mission it, 500 copies of the Book of Mormon" as printed; "it, 500" reads as a probable OCR misread of a number (most likely "11,500"), but this can't be confirmed without image access, so it was not guessed. Talk_order for this and all subsequent 1906 October talks renumbered by one to make room for this talk as talk_order 16, immediately before Duckworth.
