Francis M. Lyman · 1905 October General Conference · 1905-10-06
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-Sixth Semi-Annual Conference (October 1905), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1905sa). OCR corrected by hand (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, obvious OCR errors corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against page images. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report.
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: this file previously contained ONLY leaked leading session material (opening hymn, prayer credit, choir anthem) with the entire actual discourse missing. Discovered the real talk was also mislabeled to the wrong session -- the light-review draft had assigned it to the First Day Afternoon Session, but the content is actually the first talk of the First Day Morning Session (1905-10-06), immediately following 1905-10-lund-missionary-diligence-and-literature.md's close ('...God bless you all. Amen.') and immediately before 1905-10-smith-work-of-god-and-human-rights.md. Corrected session to 'First Day Morning Session' and talk_order to 4 (was 4 in the wrong session); renumbered the First Day Afternoon Session's other talks (John Henry Smith, Clawson, Smoot, Hyrum M. Smith) down by one (5-8 -> 4-7) to close the resulting gap. Transcribed the full discourse in full, verbatim, against the IA djvu OCR of conferencereport1905sa, fixing numerous OCR errors along the way (wa->we, tp->to, estab-=lished->established, a running-head fragment wrongly embedded mid-word 'presiPRESIDENT FRANCIS M. LYMAN. dent'->'president', and about a dozen more single-character OCR errors). Confirmed the closing 'Amen' and boundaries against the surrounding talks. 0 QC ERRORs.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
