Testimony and Reflections on the Restoration

B. H. Roberts · 1903 October General Conference · 1903-10-06

Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventy-fourth Semi-Annual Conference (October 4-6, 1903), hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1903sa). OCR was reconstructed from the Internet Archive XML with the repository reading-order helper and cleaned by script (running heads and line-break hyphenation removed, paragraphing restored, and obvious OCR artifacts corrected). Not yet proofread line-by-line against the page images; a final scan check is still needed. Grade reflects the officially published Conference Report. Title is supplied.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Light review: in-context proofread, encoding-artifact cleanup, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: resolved the prior blocker by completing the transcription. Rebuilt page reading order from conferencereport1903sa's DjVu XML word-coordinate data (scripts/ingest/cr-reading-order.py) and confirmed this file's earlier partial draft had left a truncated, duplicate copy of the talk's opening (ending mid-sentence at '...the dawning of a brighter day has arisen...') ahead of the session's Ashworth musical interlude and the topic-list byline, followed by a second, complete copy of the same opening continuing all the way to the real close. Removed the truncated duplicate opening and the interlude/topic-list material (session business, not part of the discourse), keeping one clean, complete copy of Elder Roberts' address from 'My brethren and sisters...' through the closing 'Amen.' De-hyphenated and fixed OCR letter errors throughout (ocasion->occasion, hav*->have, three-quarters->three-quarters, donvn->down, arcund->around, halluc'nations/halluci*nations->hallucinations, powj ers->powers, philoso-pher->philosopher, cut of->out of, crystal ize->crystallize, v/as->was, o.her->other, i(s->its, pow-er->power, prerent->present, *vaujd->would, accompHshment->accomplishment, pr«jv5sion...fov tha"7->provision...for that?, m His Church, first of .'ill Twelve->in His Church, first of all Twelve, enpire->empire, bodly->body, nundred->hundred, Teahers->Teachers, canning on->carrying on, Drovisions->provisions, mem-ber->member, organisation->organization). Confirmed clean boundaries: begins right after the byline/topic-list (session material, correctly excluded from the body) and ends at Roberts' own 'Amen' before President Joseph F. Smith's following remarks. Corrected source_url leaf from an earlier estimate (n73) to the confirmed n71 (the byline's own leaf).
