Lorenzo Snow · 1900 April General Conference · 1900-04-06
Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventieth Annual Conference (April 1900), scanned and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1900a). OCR was cleaned and corrected: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; obvious OCR errors fixed. Not yet proofread page-by-page against the scan images, so minor residual OCR errors may remain (status: draft, pending review).
No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.
Proofread against the source text.
Proofread against the official/CHL/JSP source plus scan/OCR witness; reconstructed a genuine two-column-page OCR interleave (see heavyweight_review_notes) and fixed OCR typos.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: source URL verified (archive.org conferencereport1900a). Used the reading-order-reconstructed OCR (derived from the IA djvu XML page/column structure) rather than the flattened djvu.txt, which resolves most two-column pages correctly -- but one page (leaf 4) genuinely interleaves two DIFFERENT parallel text streams even in the reading-order file, not just a scanning artifact. Column A ('...We have marched on, conquering, and not to be thwarted in our purposes...Our work is to grow in the knowledge of God...as we advance in years' then 'God bless you, brethren and sisters...Amen') is coherent and was kept as the body, since it flows directly into the talk's confirmed closing Amen. Column B ('...have received too much knowledge to conquer. In our youth, as stated by our President, when struggling against fearful odds, we came out greater, nobler, better soldiers of the cross...marching on to success and victory--to the time when men and nations will arise up and say, 'Thou blessed people, that have fought the good fight, that have led the way...'') reads as a separate, also-coherent passage (possibly a hymn/poem inset or a second speaker's aside) that could not be confidently placed in sequence; it was not included in the body rather than guess wrong, and is preserved here for a human decision on whether it belongs in this talk at all. No other missing text found; boundaries and closing confirmed clean. Fixed additional OCR typos throughout.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
