The Church Built on Continuous Revelation

Matthias F. Cowley · 1900 April General Conference · 1900-04-07

Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventieth Annual Conference (April 1900), scanned and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1900a). OCR was cleaned and corrected: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; obvious OCR errors fixed. Not yet proofread page-by-page against the scan images, so minor residual OCR errors may remain (status: draft, pending review).

Witnesses

No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Light review: in-context proofread, synopsis/session-artifact cleanup, and spacing fixes. NOT a full page-by-page scan collation.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: this file had two severely garbled two-column OCR interleaving defects. The first (near the Matthew 4/16 quotations) de-interleaved two genuinely alternating half-lines of Cowley's own single continuous narrative (the calling of Peter and Andrew as 'fishers of men' interleaved with Peter's confession at Matthew 16) back into correct reading order, confirmed against the IA djvu OCR (conferencereport1900a); no content was invented, only reordered. The second interleaving (near 'This is a plain and simple doctrine') turned out to interleave genuine new column-A text with a verbatim OCR duplicate of the already-recovered 'But whom say ye that I am?' passage from the first defect; the duplicate was removed rather than reconstructed as new content. Also removed a self-repeat running-head bleed ('ELDER MATTHIAS F. COWLEY'). Confirmed date/session/talk_order correct. 0 QC ERRORs.
