How the Land of Zion Shall Be Redeemed

Lorenzo Snow · 1899 October General Conference · 1899-10-07

Fidelity

◕Authoritative print

Transcribed from the OCR of the official printed Conference Report of the Seventieth Semi-Annual Conference (October 1899), scanned and hosted at the Internet Archive (conferencereport1899sa). OCR was cleaned and corrected: running heads, page numbers, and line-break hyphenation removed; obvious OCR errors fixed. Not yet proofread page-by-page against the scan images, so minor residual OCR errors may remain (status: draft, pending review).

Witnesses

No witness list recorded beyond the primary source.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Proofread against the official/CHL/JSP source plus scan/OCR witness; removed a leaked running-head fragment and fixed dense OCR typos (including the tithing figures table).

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: source URL verified (archive.org conferencereport1899sa, 70th Semi-Annual Conference, Oct 6-8 1899). This was flagged complete in progress/reports/conference-reports/1899-10.md from an earlier pass in this same review session (which removed a mid-sentence running-head bleed and confirmed the talk's boundaries and Doctrine and Covenants section 63/119 quotations against the OCR), but the heavyweight stamp itself was never actually written to this file's frontmatter -- a save gap, not a content problem. Re-verified the current body is complete and coherent (opens with D&C 63:25-31 on purchasing the land of Zion, quotes at length from the History of Joseph Smith account of the Jackson County mob violence of Nov. 1833, then D&C 119 on tithing with a table of 1898 vs. 1899 monthly tithing receipts, closing 'Amen'). Fixed a leaked 'GENERAL CONFERENCE' running-head fragment mid-body and a large number of OCR typos, including reformatting the garbled tithing-receipts table into readable dollar figures. No missing text found.
