◑Contemporaneous report

Published in Journal of Discourses, Volume 12, pp. 179-187. Shorthand report of funeral discourses for Heber C. Kimball (First Counselor in the First Presidency, died June 22, 1868), delivered in the New Tabernacle, Great Salt Lake City, June 24, 1868; speaker did not review this text before publication. The single printed catalog entry "The Death of President Heber C. Kimball" (BYU catalog attributes it to John Taylor as lead speaker) actually contains five separate eulogies printed under one heading: Elder John Taylor, Elder George A. Smith, Elder George Q. Cannon, President D. H. Wells, and President Brigham Young, each introduced by its own printed name-heading, reproduced here as Markdown ## headings in printed order. The file's speaker/speaker_id fields record only the lead/opening eulogist (John Taylor), per the printed order and the BYU catalog's own author attribution for this pointer; the other four eulogists' complete remarks are preserved verbatim in the body under their own headings. This printing contains numerous small compositor (typesetting) errors that are clearly legible and unambiguous on the page scan itself (not scanning/OCR noise) and are preserved verbatim per the project's no-silent-correction rule, e.g. "symphthy" for sympathy, "field" for filled (twice), "cicumstances" for circumstances, "he as been" for he has been, "revi-vified anh glorified" for revivified and glorified, "eulogizet he acts" for eulogize the acts, "stenously" for strenuously, "acquianted" for acquainted, and "aud" for and (recurring). A true Internet Archive Wayback capture of the BYU source_url could not be produced in this session (web.archive.org was unreachable from this environment's fetch tool); the Internet Archive's own independently hosted page scan of the same printed leaf is recorded as source_archived_url instead. Not a General Conference address: June 24, 1868 falls outside the 1868 GC windows (April 6-8, October 6-8) in indexes/conference-calendar.md; category set to other for this named funeral occasion.
