Deseret News minutes (October 14, 1863, pp. 96-97) of the Semi-Annual Conference, October 6-8, 1863. The Deseret News summary notes that 'much valuable instruction was imparted to the saints by Presidents Young and Kimball, the Twelve, and the Elders who spoke,' but the paper omitted its usual full summary to print Brigham Young's opening and closing remarks and the sustaining vote early. All four discourses transcribed from this conference are filed separately as full talks: Young's 'Necessity for Watchfulness' (JD 10:248-250), Young's 'Tithing—Building Temples—Gold, Its Production and Uses' (JD 10:251-256), Young's 'Our Relationship and Duty to God and His Kingdom' (JD 10:265-274), and Orson Hyde's 'The Wisdom of God Through His Servants' (October 8, JD 10:261-264). John Taylor also addressed the conference (Deseret News, October 28, 1863, p. 110; not yet transcribed into this vault). That remains open work for a future ingestion pass. Corrected 2026-06-30: this conference has 5 unique files total (4 discourses + this record), not 6 — a Brigham Young 'Necessity for Watchfulness' discourse had previously been saved twice under two different file IDs; the duplicate was removed.
