Conference record · 1859 October General Conference · 1859-10-06
Deseret News, October 12, 1859. Conference ran four days, October 6-9, 1859, with morning and afternoon/evening sessions each day. All discourses reported by G. D. Watt; published in Journal of Discourses, Volume 7. The seven Brigham Young discourses (Blessings of Association; Possession of the Spirit; Eternal Life; Union; Progress in Knowledge; Reorganization of the High Council; Intelligence) and the discourses by Orson Hyde, Heber C. Kimball, Daniel H. Wells, and John Taylor are already individually transcribed as separate talk files in this vault. Remarks by Joseph Young, Lorenzo Snow, Albert Carrington, Charles C. Rich, Erastus Snow, and E. D. Woolley are referenced in the minutes but have no known individual JD publication and remain untranscribed.
Published minutes of the October 6-9, 1859 General Conference.
Digital compilation of conference minutes and discourse references. Primary sources: Deseret News, October 12, 1859; Journal of Discourses, Volume 7.
Proofread against the source text.
Proofread against the official/CHL/JSP source plus scan/OCR witness; fixed a stale claim that the seven Young discourses plus Hyde, Kimball, Wells, and Taylor were not yet individually transcribed when they already existed as separate talk files.
Collated word-by-word against the original scan.
Heavyweight pass: independently re-verified via the weebly witness (raw HTML fetched directly) and the Internet Archive OCR of Journal of Discourses Volume 7 that all eleven discourses referenced in these minutes (seven by Young, one each by Hyde, Kimball, Wells, and Taylor) are already individually transcribed as separate talk files in this vault, correcting a stale fidelity_notes claim to the contrary. Confirmed the remaining named speakers (Joseph Young, Lorenzo Snow, Albert Carrington, Charles C. Rich, Erastus Snow, E. D. Woolley) have no separate transcript files and no located JD publication — honestly left as untranscribed references. Session/date/order narrative cross-checked against the individually reviewed talk files; no boundary or content-integrity issues found.
