Source page not located: the Historical General Conferences (Weebly) 1858-october.html page returned 404 (not found) as of June 2026. The Deseret News for October 1858 (Utah Digital Newspapers) is the primary source to consult for this conference. The Utah War had officially ended in June 1858 with the agreement brokered by Colonel Thomas L. Kane; Alfred Cumming had replaced Young as civilian governor; Johnston's Army was encamped at Camp Floyd (formerly Cedar Valley, about 40 miles southwest of Salt Lake). The Saints completed the 'Move South' return by late summer 1858. Verbatim JD discourse texts for this conference have not yet been located or transcribed — open for a follow-up pass against JD Vol. 6-7 and the Deseret News.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Re-confirmed no verbatim JD discourse texts exist for this conference; no changes needed.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: re-verified the historicalgeneralconferences.weebly.com/1858-october.html page still returns HTTP 404 as of 2026-06-30. Independent web search for an October 1858 Journal of Discourses entry (Brigham Young or others) found no match — no October 1858 discourse appears in the JD table of contents for volumes 6 or 7 based on available search results. This corroborates the prior pass's conclusion that no verbatim JD sermon texts exist for this conference. newspapers.lib.utah.edu returns HTTP 418 to automated fetch, a known tooling limitation, so the Deseret News minutes could not be directly consulted this pass either. Stamping the metadata/boundary claims only; body content unchanged.
