Fidelity

○Fragmentary

Deseret News, April 15, 1857, minutes of the April 6-9, 1857 General Conference. Discourses by Brigham Young (two), Daniel H. Wells, Heber C. Kimball, Wilford Woodruff (two), Lorenzo Snow, Joseph Young, and John Young are all filed separately as full talks. Corrected during heavyweight review; a prior pass of this note incorrectly claimed none were transcribed. This conference occurred in the context of growing tension with the U.S. federal government, with President Buchanan's administration preparing the Utah Expedition.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Proofread against the Deseret News/weebly witnesses; fixed stale not-yet-transcribed claims (see heavyweight_review_notes).

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: this conference-record file claimed all discourses from this conference were not yet transcribed, when 8 already existed as separate talk files (Young x2, Wells, Kimball, Woodruff x2, Snow, Joseph Young, John Young). Corrected the fidelity_notes and body narrative with cross-references. Franklin D. Richards is mentioned as a speaker in the body but no talk file exists for him at this conference — left un-cross-referenced since none exists. newspapers.lib.utah.edu returns HTTP 418 to automated fetch, a known tooling limitation, so the full Deseret News minutes text was not independently re-verified against the original scan this pass.
