Conference record · 1856 April General Conference · 1856-04-06

Fidelity

○Fragmentary

Deseret News minutes of the April 6-8, 1856 General Conference. George A. Smith's 'Leaven of the Gospel' discourse (JD 3:280-291), Orson Pratt's 'Advantages of the Latter-day Saints' discourse (JD 3:299-307), and Parley P. Pratt's 'Progress of the Latter-day Church' discourse (JD 3:307-316) are filed separately as full talks. Corrected during heavyweight review; a prior pass of this note did not cross-reference the Parley P. Pratt talk file even though it already existed. Wilford Woodruff's, Lorenzo Snow's, Heber C. Kimball's, and other speakers across the three-day conference are NOT yet transcribed — open for a follow-up pass.

Collation history

Proofread against the source text.

Proofread against the Deseret News/weebly witnesses; added a missing cross-reference to the filed Parley P. Pratt talk.

Collated word-by-word against the original scan.

Heavyweight pass: found and fixed a content-integrity bug in the sibling George A. Smith 'Leaven of the Gospel' file (existed as two duplicate files, both missing the true opening two paragraphs; consolidated and restored, see that file's heavyweight_review_notes). Also found this file did not cross-reference the already-filed Parley P. Pratt discourse; added the cross-reference and JD citation. newspapers.lib.utah.edu returns HTTP 418 to automated fetch, a known tooling limitation, so the full Deseret News minutes text was not independently re-verified against the original scan this pass.
