Conference record · 1854 April General Conference · 1854-04-06
Deseret News minutes (April 13, 1854, p. 42) of the April 6, 1854 General Conference. Brigham Young's opening business remarks, Heber C. Kimball's 'Discernment' discourse, and Orson Hyde's 'Parable of the Sower' discourse are filed separately as full talks. George A. Smith's discourse responding to criticism of the Territory's Indian-war defensive measures (published Deseret News, May 11, 1854, p. 49) is NOT yet transcribed in this vault, nor are the remainder of the conference's later sessions. These remain open work for a future ingestion pass.

Heavyweight pass: cross-checked speaker/date/session facts and the George A. Smith Indian-war discourse citation against the companion talk files (Young, Kimball, Hyde all filed separately and correctly cross-referenced here; Smith's discourse honestly marked not yet transcribed, matching that file's own stub state). newspapers.lib.utah.edu returns HTTP 418 to automated fetch, a known tooling limitation, so the full Deseret News minutes text was not independently re-verified against the original scan this pass.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
