Witnesses

Carruth CR 100 912 inventory item cr-100-912-0648. Scholarly re-transcription of George D. Watt's original Pitman shorthand report, catalogued at the Church History Library. Papers of George D. Watt MS 4534 box 1 folder 7, images 168-201. Sermon is in Journal of Discourses 1:54-66; CR 100 317 box 1, folder 40. Transcribed by LaJean Purcell Carruth August 2007; revised 18 October 2013. This is the shorthand record standing behind the first public discourse on plural marriage printed in the Journal of Discourses, and Carruth's footnotes preserve details the print does not, including Watt's habit of enclosing responses from the audience in parentheses and several places where one shorthand word is written over another. Recorded as a separate witness per docs/ingestion.md's Carruth policy; the printed Journal of Discourses 1:54-66 text stays preferred until this transcription is reviewed against it.
