Conference record · 1852 April General Conference · 1852-04-06
Deseret News minutes of the April 6-11, 1852 General Conference (held at the newly dedicated New Tabernacle), covering sustainings and administrative business. This file does not attempt to capture every session: the dedicatory prayer (Willard Richards) and the April 6 morning discourse by Brigham Young ('Weakness and Impotence of Men') are filed separately as full talks, as are three other Young discourses from this conference ('The Lord at the Head of His Kingdom,' JD 6:314-322, April 7; 'Education,' JD 1:66-71, April 8; 'Self-Government...,' JD 1:46-53, April 9) — all four already exist as separate talk files in this vault (corrected during heavyweight review; a prior pass of this note incorrectly claimed they were not yet transcribed). Remarks by Orson Pratt, Orson Spencer, George A. Smith, W. W. Phelps, Heber C. Kimball, and others across April 6-11 are NOT yet transcribed into this vault and remain open work for a future ingestion pass.

Proofread against the Deseret News/Weebly witnesses; fixed stale not-yet-transcribed claims and a misplaced day-attribution (see heavyweight_review_notes).

Heavyweight pass: this conference-record file claimed three Brigham Young discourses (Education, Self-Government, The Lord at the Head of His Kingdom) were 'not yet transcribed in this vault' when all three already exist as separate talk files alongside the Weakness-and-Impotence discourse — corrected the fidelity_notes and inline body references. Also fixed a day-attribution error: the 'best hall...2,500 persons' framing line and the Weakness-and-Impotence discourse citation were placed under the April 7 sustaining-vote paragraph, but the discourse's own JD heading ('Delivered at the Opening of the New Tabernacle...April 6, 1852') and its opening line ('as we have opened our Conference by the dedication prayer') confirm it was given April 6, the same morning as the dedicatory prayer; moved both into the April 6 paragraph (see 1852-04-young-weakness-and-impotence-of-men.md, also corrected this review). Did not re-verify the sustaining-vote roster or the April 8-11 narrative against the original Deseret News scan (newspapers.lib.utah.edu returns HTTP 418 to automated fetch, a known tooling limitation); those sections are unchanged from the prior pass.
This is a living critical edition. If you find a transcription, metadata, or sourcing error in this talk, report it to the editors →Reports are collated against the page scan and land as corrections in the vault.
